Krystal A. Murphy comes to Saurbier Law Firm from the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office having worked in the Screening & District Courts Division as well as the Sexual Assault Team. Krystal gained extensive experience as a felony exam courtroom prosecutor primarily at the 36th District Court managing heavy dockets, conducting preliminary examinations for capital and non-capital cases, and handling discovery matters for the cases assigned to her courtroom. Krystal also gained experience with the misdemeanor and traffic dockets at district courts throughout Wayne County. Furthermore, she had the opportunity to conduct a misdemeanor domestic violence jury trial at the 31st District Court where she obtained a guilty verdict.
During her time assigned to the Sexual Assault Team, Krystal was responsible for vertically prosecuting the cases assigned to her which involved warrant review, handling paper and digital discovery matters, appearing and preparing for all district and circuit court proceedings, and communicating with officers in charge, victims, and victim advocates. Krystal’s active case docket included but was not limited to CODIS hit multiple count capital cases, cases involving both criminal sexual conduct and weapons charges, incest, indecent exposure, and computers cases.
Krystal’s experience at the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office afforded her an opportunity to prove herself in a fast paced environment, prepare and interact with countless police officer and civilian witnesses, appear in front of a number of different judges, handle a wide variety of cases, and gain invaluable courtroom experience.
Krystal received her undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan – Flint and her Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University Law School. During law school, Krystal participated in both Moot Court, Mock Trial, as well as judicial and prosecutor’s office internships.
In her free time, Krystal enjoys Pilates, traveling, spending time with friends and family, and horseback riding. Before law school, Krystal spent 14 years competing horses throughout the country.
