Annual Legal Seminar at Detroit Public Library

The Saurbier Law Firm held its annual legal seminar at the Detroit Public Library on May 29, 2015, which coincided with the Library’s 150-year anniversary. Guests were invited to participate in discussions regarding timely topics and emerging trends in defense litigation, and celebrate the past and future of Detroit.
The seminar included the following presentations and group discussions:
- Policy, Procedure, Peer Review: What Is and Is Not Protected as the Law Stands Today – Marc D. Saurbier
- Challenging Medical Expenses–Past & Future – Scott A. Saurbier
- The Evolution of Lost Opportunity: The State of the Law and How it Can Be Utilized in Defending Medical Malpractice Claims – Lauren M. Studley
- Is Daubert Alive in Michigan? – Elizabeth A. Pyden
- Tips on Avoiding Claims of Bad Faith – Renée S. Siegan
- Science Fiction? The Implications of Assisted Reproductive Technologies on Current Health Care Law – Jacqueline E. Clarke
- The Promises and Perils of Autonomous Vehicles – Mitchell C. Jackson
The presentations were followed by a guided art and architectural tour of the Library’s revered Adam Strohm Hall, which features a blend of classical frescoes and modern murals depicting the history of Detroit. The tour was led by art historian, Barbara Cohn, the founder of the Detroit Public Library Art Tour Program.
