Last year our enthusiastic Work Crew of 75+ raked over ½ mile between Central Avenue and the old zoo fence line of leaves, broken branches and miscellaneous clutter. We filled 440 leaf bags, chainsaw volunteers cleared four major tree falls & our kayak volunteers fished trash from the canals. The areas looked great!

Going into our fourth year, our Work Crew keeps expanding and is depended on and greatly appreciated by the Belle Isle Conservancy and the DNR. We work! And we also, have a lot of fun and banter in the process while getting some of Belle Isle State Park’s 985 acres ready for the summer season. Belle Isle is the largest island park in a U.S. municipality, and larger than Central Park in NYC. There is always more to do! Join our Work Crew! You will be pleased!

Bring yourself, spouse, friends, kids and friends of friends. The bigger the Work Crew, the better. Belle Isle State Park needs our help to be enjoyed this summer by our extended families and friends from all over Michigan. You should bring your own rake and work gloves. If you have other cleanup supplies (such as a leaf blower, chainsaw, clippers), please feel free to bring them as well. (Leaf bags are provided by the DNR). Call us for special arrangements to kayak. The entrance fee is waived for the day by identifying yourself as a Clean-Up Volunteer!

RSVP: All volunteers will receive a Work Crew t-shirt. Please email your RSVP by April 10th (or sooner!) with your/family/friends t-shirt sizes, with names and who will be joining us at 12:30 p.m. for lunch at the Detroit Yacht Club.
